Why this exists.

Most owners who've built a real business over 20 or 30 years don't have a great way to find the right people when things start to change. They ask around. They take a meeting with whoever calls. They sit through a pitch and hope for the best.

The Owner's Shortlist is a different approach. It's a hand-picked list of specialists who do this kind of work well: valuation, taxes, legal structure, deal financing, family transfers, and everything else that comes up when an owner starts thinking about what's next.

The goal is simple. You should be able to find the right person in less time than it takes to take three bad meetings. No directory games, no paid placements, no middleman.

I didn't come from Wall Street or a broker's office. I grew up around my dad's fishing business. Families paid to come fish for the day, and he ran it on relationships, not on squeezing every dollar out of every customer.

One year a storm came through and turned the water brown. Nobody could fish. He ran the pond anyway and refunded people himself, out of his own pocket. He lost money that year and business was slow. Three years later he was booked solid, because the people he refunded came back and brought their friends. That's the whole idea behind this site. Not a slogan, just how I think it should work.

I talk to owners every day who've put 20, 30, sometimes 40 years into something and never had a good way to find the right person to talk to about it. They ask around, they Google it, or they call whoever their CPA mentioned once. They wish they met the right person sooner.

I'm not trying to be your new best friend, and I'm not trying to be the only call you ever make. I'm trying to point you to the right person for where you're at, then get out of the way.

No cost to owners, ever.

Introductions are free on the owner side. You get a straight conversation about where you're at and who might be worth talking to. No obligation after that.

"Nothing on this site is legal, tax, or financial advice. It's a starting point, not a substitute for a real conversation with a real specialist."
